DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA – LOFT ensemble in the Little Tokyo Arts District presents Macbeth.
Shakespeare's tale of ambition and power gone corrupt is reimagined with medieval Scotland as a modern military state. LOFT ensemble's production poses Thanes as generals, witches hiding in plain sight as officers and servants, and political upheaval at a time of regime change. Much like modern-day Syria or North Korea, Scotland is ruled by a man at the center of it all that would destroy everything to appease his own ambition.
LOFT ensemble is a downtown Los Angeles theater company based in the Little Tokyo Arts District and a member of the LA Stage Alliance. The ensemble is led by Artistic Director Adam Chambers using the Viewpoints technique as a basis for performance. Macbeth is the second show of their second full season of productions, which will also include The Last Day (a world premiere Vietnam era play by Christina Joy Howard), a revival of Patrick Marber's Closer, and Tennessee Williams' Stairs to the Roof.
